Exponent does what other CMS systems do – “it allows anyone to create website pages, content on pages, and manage where these pages are placed on a website – but it does all this in a completely new way.

Exponent uses an editing system that allows website content to be edited on the page as it is displayed – no more back-end administration, no more navigating endless administration pages to add a simple line of text – simply visit the page you need to edit as if you were a site visitor, and make the change.

Exponent was born in 2003, is available under the GNU GPL and is supported by OIC, a software company based in Peoria, IL.

SPIP 1.9

July 1st, 2006 No comments

Five years after the first public version, SPIP 1.9 is launched.

Among the many new features introduced since the last stable version (SPIP 1.8.3):

* The templates have been redesigned, and now follow the W3C standards and accessibility guidelines more closely.

* The syndication feed templates are now in RSS 2.0 format.

* Additional document formats are supported: SVG, Abiword, Blender, Video Flash, truetype fonts, as well as all open document formats.

* An important collection of new filters makes it possible to apply graphic treatments to the images (requires the GD2 library on the server).

For a full list of the many improvements in SPIP 1.9, please read the release announcement.
