Tikiwiki
December 28, 2006 -- filed under Directory
Tikiwiki is probably one of the most feature rich CMS packages because, unlike other open source projects that ship only a small set of features and encourage third party add-ons, it includes as many features as possible in the project itself.
Tikiwiki is indeed so feature rich that it can be overwhelming, even to an experienced user or administrator. On the other side all the features are optional and administered via a web-based interface.
Tikiwiki is written in PHP, and uses ADOdb as a database abstraction layer, allowing it to store data in MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, Sybase or MS SQL Server. The template engine is Smarty, which is included in the Tikiwiki installation.
The initial release of TikiWiki, version 0.9, was in October 2002. Tikiwiki is currently maintained and developed by an international community of volunteer contributors, and is licensed under the GNU LGPL (Lesser General Public License).
