[Martin Luther King]

Martin Luther King, Jr. was born on January 15, 1929 in Atlanta, Georgia. A Baptist Preacher and American Civil Rights leader, he preached non-violence and worked to bring about social, political and economic equality for citizens of all races.

In 1963, in Washinghton D.C., he delivered one of his most memorable speeches: “I have a dream … that one day little black boys and black girls will be able to join hands with little white boys and white girls as sisters and brothers”.

He was awarded the Nobel prize for Peace in 1964, for leading his struggle for equality through non-violence.

Martin Luther King was assassinated on April 4, 1968. Each year on the third Monday of January the U.S. celebrate the birth, the life and the dream of Martin Luther King.
