PostNuke “is software that creates an impressive, dynamic web site and provides the webmaster with a site they can administer with a minimal amount of HTML knowledge through a web browser.

PostNuke can do anything from traditional blog sites, to a community website with hundreds of users. PostNuke can scale to thousands of users but is just as easy to create a small website for friends and family.

PostNuke was started in July 2001 as a fork of PHP-Nuke, by John Cox, Greg Allan, Harry Zink, and Sean Finkle. One year later, the PostNuke software was 100% free of any legacy code.

PostNuke is a PHP – MySQL application, and is released under the GNU General Public License (GPL). PostNuke was renamed Zikula in June 2008.

A CMS is an application that provides for the display and management of the contents of a web site. MDPro carries this many steps farther by making this management simple yet powerful. Your MDPro powered web site can be updated in seconds without any knowledge of programming or HTML.

MDPro can be configured to allow your site users to send news, comment on existing news, vote in polls, administer their own account via a simple graphical interface and much more.

MDPro (formerly MD-Pro) was born in the summer of 2003 as an enhanced version of PostNuke (a fork of PHP-Nuke) and eNvolution (a fork of PostNuke), removing the Encompass templating system coming from eNvolution and integrating the AutoTheme Lite templating system instead.

MDPro is released under the GNU GPL (General Public License).

Serendipity 1.0 released

June 15th, 2006 No comments

The Serendipity Team is proud to announce the final release version of Serendipity 1.0.

Serendipity 1.0 marks the end of a very long development cycle that started in 2002. Many beta-releases have been issued since, keeping us closely in touch with the community, fixing bugs and offering features our users really wanted.

Since our most recent prerelease, we’ve updated the installation screens, added new languages (Polish, Turkish, and Tamil), made our RSS feeds templatized, improved the spam filters with Akismet support, and fixed every known bug.

Other recent improvements include enhanced templating (hiding sidebars, including extra entries anywhere in template), one-click editing of static sidebar HTML, and a completely new default template.

For details, please refer to the full release announcement.
