Pligg beta 9.5 released

April 29th, 2007 No comments

[Pligg]

Pligg has just released beta version 9.5 on SourceForge. The developers decided that “most features from this point on should be added through the semi-new module system which lets you plugin your own code without messing with the core of Pligg. This doesn’t mean that the development of Pligg will slow, in fact we expect the opposite.

Among the new features there are major database query enhancements, vote counts shown in the sidebar, custom 404 pages, the ability for users to save or bookmark any stories they want, and many others. Template Lite has been upgraded to version 2.10, and ezSQL to version 2.03.

A few new modules are also available, along with improvements in the admin interface. For further details, please read the release announcement.

Movable Type 3.35

April 17th, 2007 No comments

[Movable Type]

Movable Type 3.35 has been released, mainly because of “a XSS vulnerability that was found in our comment preview code. The vulnerability affects only a small number of people, but we felt it important to address the issue as soon as we could. And since we were turning on the release machines we went ahead and tackled a couple of other bug fixes and introduced a new feature as well.

The new feature is a greatly improved installation process. Now a Setup Wizard helps users configure the platform on their web server, asking a few questions and then taking care of the rest.

Another important change is on how you download Movable Type. Now users seeking the personal and free edition no longer have to create a TypeKey account to download the software, they just click the link that says “Download Movable Type”.

For additional information and instructions to fix the security vulnerability, please refer to the release announcement.
