Packt’s Drupal book

Packt, the publishing company behind the new Drupal book have released a website designed to give more information about the book.

The website “allows you to view content from the book and also read through summaries of each chapter. Chapter 2 “Setting up the Development Environment” has been made available in its entirety for free download.

The book “Drupal: Creating Blogs, Forums, Portals, and Community Websites” is a complete guide to every aspect of creating a variety of different websites using Drupal. Aimed at beginners to the system, this contains a trove of well-considered and practical information presented in a logical and intuitive manner so that you can either build up your site step by step by reading from cover to cover or, alternatively, focus on your specific needs by diving into each chapter as required.

b2evolution 1.8 beta

b2evolution 1.8 “Summer Beta” is available for download today.

As said, it is a Beta, which means there are still issues (like pesky bugs) but nothing critical though. It is strong enough to run this site as well as the developers’ sites… so there’s a pretty good chance it’s ready for you too!

New features include an extended plugin architecture, interface for Settings and UserSettings, antispam measures and usability improvements. For details, please read the full release announcement.

Google hires Alexander Limi

Mambo 4.6 RC2 released

Team Mambo would like to announce the availability of the second public Release Candidate for the new Version 4.6 of the Mambo Open Source CMS. “The Release Candidate comes after an extended RC1 period during which the Team took feedback from a large number of users and made enhancements to the system. The RC2 release includes a number of significant changes which the Team wishes to evaluate before going to a final Production Release.

SPIP 1.9

Five years after the first public version, SPIP 1.9 is launched.

Among the many new features introduced since the last stable version (SPIP 1.8.3):

* The templates have been redesigned, and now follow the W3C standards and accessibility guidelines more closely.

* The syndication feed templates are now in RSS 2.0 format.

* Additional document formats are supported: SVG, Abiword, Blender, Video Flash, truetype fonts, as well as all open document formats.

* An important collection of new filters makes it possible to apply graphic treatments to the images (requires the GD2 library on the server).

Geeklog 1.4.0sr4

To address the recently posted exploits for insecure installations and for the mcpuk file manager, “we are releasing Geeklog 1.4.0sr4.

In this release, we’ve removed the file manager altogether, so you will no longer be able to upload images through FCKeditor (this will be enabled again when we release Geeklog 1.4.1 with FCKeditor 2.3). We’ve also added additional protection against code execution in case of insecure installations but suggest that you really protect your Geeklog install properly as explained in the installation instructions and in the FAQ.

eZ publish basics

The first book officially published by eZ systems is now available. It is entitled “eZ publish basics” and provides an introduction to the architecture and concepts of the eZ publish Enterprise Content Management System.

This book “is written for developers and administrators who want to expand their understanding of the system or who want to extend and customize their eZ publish installation. In addition to basic concepts, the book includes examples that show how to perform common tasks and create simple extensions. This book is compatible with eZ publish versions 3.5 to the latest version 3.8.

Xoops 2.0.14 released

The Xoops development team is pleased to announce the release of Xoops 2.0.14.

This is mainly a maintenance release containing a lot of bugfixes, but it also provides many enhancements implemented to lessen the gap between the 2.0, 2.2 and 2.3 branches.

Joomla! 1.0.10 security release

Joomla! 1.0.10 is available for download.

All existing Joomla! users must upgrade to this version, due to several high level vulnerabilities that affect all previous versions of Joomla!

Joomla! 1.0.10 contains nine fixes for High, Medium and Low Level Security Vulnerabilities. For details and upgrading instructions, please refer to the release announcement.

Xaraya 1.1.1 maintenance release

Xaraya Core 1.1.1 is a maintenance release providing bug fixes and minor enhancements to the prior 1.1 version, and is now available for download.

If you are upgrading to 1.1.1 from Version 1.1 there are no template updates or database changes.
