WP Menubar version 4.0
Menubar version 4.0 is ready to be downloaded from the WordPress Plugin Directory.
What’s new in this version? A few improvements in the internal structure, that explain the new major version number, and a few on the user side.
Internally, Ajax is used in the Add Menu Item and Edit Menu Item forms, and a new column is added to the Menubar MySQL table. The results of these changes will show up on the user side in the next few versions, when I’ll be able to implement many of your suggestions.
On the visible side, the Menubar admin page has been moved under the Appearance menu, but the more interesting feature is the new structure of Menubar templates, allowing a greater freedom of customization.
The old templates are still supported, and there is no plan to drop this support, but all the new features will be implemented in new templates.
Another Menubar 4.0 feature is the new SearchBox item type, that integrates a search box in your menubar. The search box doesn’t show up in the old templates, but it does in the new ones, like Suckerfish_4.
For the updated manual, please see the WP Menubar documentation.
Thanks a lot for the update, Andrea! After a bit of fiddling (I didn’t at first realize that WP Menubar assigns an id to the input box, so was having trouble styling that), I have the new search box up and running now.
By the way, for some reason, your site doesn’t accept my answer to your math verification question in Firefox (I’m using Mac version 3.5.x), but in Safari it does.
Hello Dan,
I’m glad the search box works for you!
For the anti-spam question, I’ve fixed a possible flaw in the session logic of that plugin, could you give it another try? Thank you!
